María Rodríguez, Arturo Roig Alsina

Resumen

Southern South American species of Ancyloscelis Latreille (Hymenoptera, Apidae) with  unmodified mouthparts: new species and synonymical notes. The bees of the genus Ancyloscelis form  two distinctive groups regarding their mouthparts: one of them with hooked setae on the proboscis, and  the other one with branched, normal setae on the proboscis. To this second group belong in Argentina A.  apiformis (Fabricius), A. romeroi (Holmberg), and the two new species A. saltensis and A. nigricornis.  The names Leptergatis fiebrigi Brèthes, 1909, and Ancyloscelis armatitarsis Strand, 1910, are new  synonyms of Leptergatis romeroi Holmberg, 1903. Descriptions, illustrations, and a key to the species are  provided.  Key words: Bees, Emphorini, taxonomy, Argentina, Paraguay.
